Veguary: Afro-Vegan Society To Mark Black History Month With Celebration Of Black Plant-Based Food Traditions

BALTIMORE, MD – The Afro-Vegan Society (AVS) is celebrating Veguary, a FREE month-long celebration of Black vegan history, culture, diversity, and progress, throughout the month of February. The 29-day program encourages members of the Black community to try plant-based eating during the month of February. Veguary is purposefully situated during Black History Month to highlight the contributions of Black vegan trailblazers while sharing the many benefits of plant-based eating and vegan living in Black communities.

According to Afro-Vegan Society founder Brenda Sanders, “Afro-Vegan Society’s Veguary program is designed to create a pathway to vegan living for Black folks who are interested in making a lifestyle change but need support from a community that understands and centers the Black experience.
