Hello everyone, we have a list of stock photo websites that have images of black people that you can use for your business or personal reasons, free without worrying about copyright issues(this is explained more below). Sometimes it is difficult for us to find photos of black/african and also people of color including brown, hispanics, mexicans, asians and native american people.
This is why I hand selected these stock photo websites after I tried them all and I of course made sure to add a screenshot of each site that you can get a sense of how their images look like before you go and try them. But before you do that, please take a look at the following important information about what “free” really means. Each of these websites offers some sort of ‘license’ when it comes to the usage of the photos, so even if they are “free” you should still know about what that means, nothing to scare you about but you get my point I hope.
What is Royalty-Free?
Royalty-free refers to a licensing method where a user pays a one-time fee to obtain rights to use an image, video, or other media. Once this fee is paid, the user can use the material as often as desired without paying additional royalties. The term “royalty-free” can be misleading as it suggests that the material is free of charge, which is not always the case. For further details on royalty-free licensing and its implications, a visit to a resource like [Getty Images] which explains the concept in more depth, could be beneficial.
What is Creative Commons?
Creative Commons (CC) is a global nonprofit organization dedicated to fostering the sharing and utilization of creativity and knowledge. It offers a spectrum of free legal tools, including various licenses. These licenses vary in their terms, ranging from those that permit virtually unrestricted usage without requiring attribution, to more restrictive ones that limit the ways in which the work can be used or altered. More about the specifics of different Creative Commons licenses can be found on the [Creative Commons website].
What is the Public Domain?
Public domain refers to works that are not protected by copyright law. This typically occurs when a work’s copyright has expired, been forfeited, or is otherwise not applicable. It’s important to note that just because a work is available online does not automatically mean it is in the public domain. To understand more about the public domain and its nuances, you can explore resources like the [Copyright Information Center].
